The Svoboda Lab is at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, part of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and affiliated with the Neurobiology and Behavior Program at SUNY Stony Brook.

In the summer of 2006 we will move to the Janelia Farm Research Institute.

We are interested in information processing and experience-dependent plasticity in the mammalian cortex. What happens at the level of neural networks and their components, neurons and synapses, when we learn? To address these questions we study the rodent sensory cortex. We use optical, physiological, and molecular tools to probe the dynamics of cortical circuits from single synapses to neuronal populations. Although our experiments focus on the intact brain, we also use reduced preparations, such as brain slices.
